Now that we have all recovered from the crazy weekend that was Rockfest 2010 we want to take a little time to thank all the bands, fans, sponsors, PDP Crew and any and everyone that had a part in making this year's festival the best ever. We had a little rain Saturday morning, but then it cleared and everyone still came out to play and watch. It was a great day! And Friday night was gorgeous and well attended too with some awesome bands kicking things off. We're already making plans for next year so stay tuned and keep on rockin'!
Rockfest starts tomorrow and we're terribly excited!!! For those of you with concerns about the forecast for rain on Saturday all we can say is that Rockfest is rain or shine so the show will go on. The good side is that nobody ever died from a few summertime raindrops... just look at Woodstock. Drug overdoses and lightning... that's what we need to worry about.
In brighter news we received two awesome write-ups today in the A&E section of the Greenfield Recorder and the Valley Advocate. Many thanks to those folks for supporting Rockfest and local music over the years.
Now that we are getting down to the wire we would also like to take the time to thank all the awesome bands that are playing this year at Rockfest 2010. Rockfest is in many ways a DIY festival and many of these bands are putting long hours in helping us organize, promote, and generally create a buzz about this year's Rockfest. Plus they also are doing the other things usually bands do like write music, play shows and figure out ways to pay the bills while keeping their other jobs and families happy. No mean feat that is. Most of the bands... who are we kidding... ALL the bands we book at Rockfest do not have the luxury of surviving just on the money they receive from making music. Would it were not true, but we understand and respect that and truly appreciate all the effort they put in. Thank you Rockfest 2010 performers!! Let the show begin!!!
Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend!!! With Rockfest 2010 only 4 days away (where does the time go!) we would once again like to take this opportunity to thank our sponors including Summit Ice, Matt Kim's Academy of Rock, Hale Custom Signs, Performer Magazine, The Greenfield Grille and of course Paradox Apparel. Also thanks to Burrito Rojo and Sonic Creations for being our ticket outlets. And let's not forget our partners in Rockfest, Feral Project Productions. Sam and Joe are awesome!!

We will have some sweet Rockfest 2010 ticket / T-Shirt and CD packages at the show so come over and enjoy this cool FREE event. As a little teaser for Rockfest and a great summer kickoff we're hosting a FREE concert at the Greenfield Energy Park on June 19th featuring Rockfest performers playing acoustic sets. This will be a great opportunity to see a bunch of bands who are playing Rockfest playing together in a format you might not get to see very often. We've done these shows before and they're always a lot of fun - you never now what to expect and often you get bands playing impromotu sets, songs together, one-off covers and more. Did we mention that it is FREE! So really no reason not to come enjoy a great night of cool music at a great location - the same location as Rockfest - the Energy Park on Miles Street in Greenfield. The whole thing starts at 6PM on June 19th and goes until whenever. Oh.. and right now we have confirmed that The Futurenows, Arrows Over Athens, Captious, and Brookline Drive will be playing this concert. There will most likely be a few more.
Rockfest 2010 tickets will be in the hands of the bands later this week. Contact your favorite band to get your weekend passes for $10 each. You can buy them online and other places, but if you really want to support a band get your tickets from them because it helps them out. Support local music and local bands!
We are also excited to have some great sponsors back for Rockfest 2010! Summit Ice (formerly Rice's Ice) has been with us since the first Rockfest. Their ice helps keep all the water and drinks we have for bands and fans cool during the warm-to-sweltering July days of Rockfest. Summit Ice is located in Greenfield, Mass and also does Personalized Ice Sculptures, Party Luges, Dry Ice, Block Ice, and - our favorite for Rockfest - Cubed Ice. We also have Matt Kim's Academy of Rock which is located just up the street from the Energy Park as a sponsor once again this year. AOR [AKA Rockshop] bands have been opening Rockfest for the last 3 years. MK's AOR offers the complete rock and roll learning experience including private and group lessons on Guitar, Bass, Drum and Vocals. We have Hale Custom Signs who provide our awesome Rockfest banners that you'll see at the festival, on the street and at other events we do during the summer months. Performer Magazine is also working with Rockfest this summer. Check out the Rockfest 2010 ad and all the great articles about up-and-coming bands in the soon-to-be-out June issue! And how could we forget Drew and our friends at Paradox Apparel!! They will be out on tour all summer at Warped Tour, but you will see them at Rockfest... they love us enough to take a weekend off to come back to Mass for Rockfest
Some fabulous new bands have been added to the Rockfest 2010 lineup in the past few weeks including The Alchemystics, My Last Flight (playing a last ever reunion show with the original lineup!!), Avely, The Futurenows, Skasome Society. AND we have the preliminary list of who is playing what nights up as well. All this is up on the Bands page.
We are looking for more sponsors and vendors for Rockfest. If you are a business that wants to help out, reach our audience or sell something at Rockfest contact us at sponsorship@massrockfest.com or vending@massrockfest.com.

Yep... this is our 5th year doing Rockfest in the summer - we also did one in January a few years back and that was pretty cool as well (ha ha... literally... but it was indoors), but the summer ones at the Energy Park in Greenfield are what we really enjoy. It's a great pleasure putting on an event in the middle of town that brings together so many awesome bands and fans in such a great space. Greenfield is small enough and easy to get to so that traffic and parking aren't really a problem, but big enough that there are lots of places to eat and hang out within walking distance of where the music is. We are all in favor of those festivals out on somebody's farm or at the local college, but there is something even better about being right in thick of things. Plus it helps all the local business a much more to be bringing folks into town don't ya think?
Speaking of being in the thick of it we're currently immersed in the process of selecting all the bands for the festival. If you are a band and are interested and available to play at Rockfest In Greenfield on the 9th and 10th of July contact us at booking@massrockfest.com. We will be making our preliminary announcements soon so contact us soon.
April is almost upon us and that means we are getting close to announcing the first bunch of bands who will be playing on Rockfest. We will be taking submissions pretty much thru the middle of May and beyond, but we like to get our ducks in a row as early as possible so we'll be filling slots a few weeks from now and keep on doing it until we're full up with bands - something around 50 this year. Which reminds us that one other twist for this year's Rockfest is that we are also talking to a few more local venues about the possibility of having them participate in Rockfest 2010 and host Rockfest band sets. Nothing definite yet in terms of where or when, but we're pretty sure that you will be seeing some performers at local venus after the usual Greenfield Energy Park sets have finished for the night.
